Using Branches for Services

Netsmart Homecare allows assigning a branch value to the service record in addition to the existing Patient and Resource Branches. The Service Branch value allows you to assign activities and service records that do not include a specific patient to a specific Branch. For example, assign a Branch Level Inter-Discipline Meeting for a group of active patients. You may continue using the Patient Branch assigned in the Admissions & Status window for service associated to a patient to determine the Branch for the service. In this same model, if a patient was not involved, the assigned Resource's role record was used to determine the branch.

Our current Interfaces, which include General Ledger (GL) Export, use the logic of Patient Branch along with Resource Branch; however, they have not been updated to use the new Service Branch. Before you use the Service Branch functionality, you must work with the Interface Team to confirm that there would not be a negative impact to the data from the export program.

The Pay Rate Calculator (PRC) Export now uses the Service Branch instead of the Resource Branch. When the Default as Assigned Patient Branch option is not used, then the Service Branch option is populated with the Resource Branch and uses the Resource Branch for the calculation. However, you can manually change the value and cause the logic to use the Service Branch value, rather than the Resource Branch.
