Business Units – Scopes Tab

Path: Administration>Configuration>Business Units

A scope is a division within the security framework that allows organizations to associate different security privileges with an operator who works in multiple Business Units. Multiple scopes may be defined if access privileges for one or more users vary depending on the Business Unit.

A scope can be applied to a single Business Unit or to multiple Business Units. An operator within a scope can share responsibilities across Business Units or have responsibilities in just one Business Unit. For example, if a nurse must complete five windows in two different Business Units, only one scope is needed for both of these Business Units. However, if a nurse has different responsibilities in two different Business Units, two different scopes must be used, one for each Business Unit.

Using the Scopes tab, you can select security scopes to apply to Business Units. Scopes selected for a Business Unit then appear on the Privileges tabs for operators, roles, and groups for which privileges should be assigned within the scope.

You can edit or complete the following columns as appropriate:

Field Description

Name

Enter the scope name. Scope names appear on the Privileges tabs for operators, roles, and groups.

Description

Enter the description of the scope.

Use

Select to apply the corresponding scope to the appropriate Business Unit. Scopes with the check box in the Use column selected are pulled into the Privileges tabs for operators, groups, and roles for the appropriate Business Unit.
