About Visit Frequency

Path: Patient > Clinical > Visit Frequency

Prerequisite: To access the Visit Frequency window, you need to have the appropriate privileges granted by the Netsmart Homecare administrator.

In the Visit Frequency window you can enter the information about planned and PRN visits for a patient within the certification period, their frequency and duration, assigned discipline, and ordering physician. In addition, you can distinguish between a regular visit entered by a clinician to perform specific functions per doctor's orders and a PRN visit performed as needed. Depending on the treatment progress, you can add new visit frequency records and edit the existing ones.

When scheduling visits, you can view the planned visits for the patient in Schedule > View > Visit Frequencies & Authorizations.

A warning appears if you try to schedule visits that were not planned or that exceed the planned number of visits. In addition, a warning appears for a recertification period to show that MD#1 may no longer be enrolled in the HHA category for this certification period. This is edited against the start/end dates in the PECOS enrollment.

Use the Visit Frequency report to preview the accumulated information about planned, scheduled, and performed visits. Planned visits also can be entered for prospective patients. If a patient is admitted, all the records are adjusted to the first certification period, and the dates are recalculated according to the visit frequency parameters. Calculation of the visit frequency period is based on the options defined in Administration > Configuration > Business Units > Settings > Clinical Miscellaneous > Visit Frequency. See Visit Frequency Calculation details for more information about visit frequency dates calculation.

You can print the planned visits on the certification or recertification orders and generate supplemental orders for visit frequency start or end dates if needed.
