Enter visit frequency for patient

Path: Patient>Clinical>Visit Frequency

Prerequisite: To access the Visit Frequency window, you need to have the appropriate privileges granted by the Netsmart Homecare administrator.

  1. In the Patient component, select the patient.
  2. Go to Clinical>Visit Frequency. The Visit Frequency window opens.
  3. Verify you are on the correct Certification Period tab. Note: Visit frequency for the discipline must be within the certification period.
  4. Add a new row for the visit frequency either for regular or for PRN visits.
  5. In the Disc column, click the down arrow icon and select the appropriate discipline from the drop-down list.
  6. In the P column, click the ellipsis icon to open the Define Visit Frequency Parameters dialog.
  7. Set the visit frequency parameters as appropriate. The defined parameters are displayed in the Description column.
  8. In the Start column, specify the visit frequency start date. Note: The system calculates start dates for regular and PRN visit frequencies automatically based on the defined visit frequency parameters and administration settings. You can change them as appropriate.
  9. In the Cert/Recert column, select the check box if you want to print this visit frequency on certification or recertification orders. Otherwise, visit frequency can be printed on the supplemental orders.
  10. In the End column, specify the visit frequency end date. 
    Note: For regular visits, the system calculates the end date automatically based on the defined visit frequency parameters and administration settings. You can change them as appropriate.
  11. In the Do Not Create Order column, select the check box if you do not want to create a supplemental order on the visit frequency start date.
  12. In the Do Not Create End Order column, select the check box if you do not want to create a supplemental order on the visit frequency end date.
  13. In the Phys ID column, click the down arrow icon and select the physician. If the desired physician is not listed, click Select another physician, and then search for the appropriate one in the Physician window. Note: Primary physician is set by default.
  14. If the frequency of regular visits changed, click the ellipsis icon in the C column to open the Change Reason dialog and type the reason for the visit frequency change. This field allows up to 4000 characters.
    Important: If you make changes to an existing record that was already printed on the supplemental order, it is essential to document the change reason.
  15. To edit or delete the existing visit frequency, select the corresponding row and make the necessary changes. If the visit frequency record is locked, see Change locked visit frequency record.
  16. Save your changes.
