HL7 Patient tab

This tab displays patient demographic and clinical data. It contains three subtabs:

Subtab Field Description
Patient   Displays patient demographic information. These data are used for identification of the patient within the Business Unit. Two of the fields which are set as first and second identifiers are required. The identifiers are set in Administration>Configuration>HL7>General.

Patient's Discrete Data Header

Displays the general information on all the clinical data included in the message. This subtab contains the following fields:

Entity Identifier

This field is not processed with the current logic.

Service Identifier

This field is not processed with the current logic.

Sending Facility Name

Displays the name of the facility which sent the message.

Vendor Note ID

Displays the unique identification number for the note. It is used only for note update ORU R01 messages. The system uses this field to check whether this note is present in the database or whether it is new (see the description of the Note Update Indicator field below).

Note Update Indicator

Indicates whether this is a new insert of the note or update.

If this is a new insert, this field should be blank and the Vendor Note Id field should contain the indicator not registered in the Netsmart Homecare database. The note then will be stored and can be accessed further from the application windows. If the system identifies that such indicator already exists in the database, the warning appears and the message will not be completed.

If this is an update of the existed note, this field should have the U value and the Vendor Note Id field should contain the indicator already registered in the Netsmart Homecare database. The note then will be updated and can be accessed further from the application windows. If the system identifies that such indicator is absent in the database, the warning appears and the message will not be completed.

Displays the content of the patient's clinical data header note.

Patient's Discrete Data   Displays the content of separate readings within the message.
