HL7 Clinical Notes window

Path: Patient>Clinical>Clinical Notes

When the received ORU R01 message is a note update message, the notes from the message header and notes from the readings are stored together in the Clinical Notes window.

Ensure that the Discipline field in the Show section of the window displays the discipline that is set to be used by HL7 by default.

• The discipline to be used by HL7 is set in Administration>Clinical>Disciplines.
• You can also select to view all the disciplines and then find the imported through HL7 note from the all existing.

The note imported from the HL7 message has C (Charting) value in the Use column.

Note: To view only the notes imported from HL7, select the discipline set to be used by HL7 from the Discipline drop-down list and select C (Charting) from the Use drop-down list in the Show section of the window.

The summary of the discipline notes is displayed in the Discipline Summary of Clinical Notes text box.

• It contains the caption which includes the date of message completion (when the note was stored in the database) and the name of the user who completed the message.
• The content of the note contains the note from the Data Header of the message and the notes from the readings.
• You can edit the note in the text box if necessary.

If the message is completed automatically (the auto complete option is turned on and the message contains no errors), the summary of the discipline notes contains no caption.
