HL7 View Clinical Data window

Path: Patient>Clinical>View Clinical Data

Using this window, you can view the patient clinical data.

  • When the ORU R01 message which contains clinical monitoring data is completed, the corresponding readings are stored in the Netsmart Homecare database and can further be accessed through View Clinical Data window.
  • According to the type of the clinical data received in the message, it can be accessed through one of the window tabs:
    • Vital Signs
    • Measurements
    • Labs
    • Spirometry
    • Scales

For example, if the message contains a temperature of the patient, the user should open the View Clinical Data window and click the Vital Signs tab. This tab contains all the vital signs of the current patient displayed as a diagrams. On the image below, the patient has two recorded vital signs, temperature and pulse.

You can click the Preview button to see the Clinical Monitoring - Patient Data report. It will show the data displayed on the current tab in report mode. You can print the report or save it as a separate file.

Using the pane at the right side of the window, you can filter the readings by admission, date range, and number of readings.

You can click the Units of Measure button and change the units of measure used for the certain clinical parameter.

Table View

You can double-click the diagram to view the reading in the table view.

For example, if you click the Temperature diagram, a separate Temperature tab opens which contains all the temperature values that were measured for the current patient.

  • The Source column indicates where the data came from.
  • If the data were imported through HL7, the Source column displays I (Imported).

You cannot edit the imported data.

  • However, if the data are incorrect, you can mark them as erroneous.
  • To do this, select the field with the corresponding value (in this example, the Temperature field), right-click it, and then select Mark as erroneous from the shortcut menu.
  • The erroneous data appear as crossed out with red line.

If the imported ORU R01 message contained a note assigned for certain reading, it can be viewed by moving the pointer to the note icon in the corresponding record field.

You can click the Trend button to view how the clinical data changed according to all existed records. The graph appears, which illustrates these changes, so you can easily see the trend (increase, decrease, or stable) of certain vital sign or measurement.
