Schedule visits for patient without specifying resource

If you schedule a visit in Patient mode and do not select a resource, the logic for branch defaulting may differ after you specify a resource.

If the Default as Assigned Patient Branch option is selected in Administration > Configuration > Business Units > Settings > Administration, and you schedule a visit in Patient mode without specifying a resource, the Branchfield shows the patient's branch name defined in Patient > General > Admissions & Status but the field is disabled. You can save such visit with the default patient branch without verifying it because the Verify check box is not available since the resource is not selected.

The Branch field remains disabled until you specify the resource type for the scheduled visit. Depending on whether you select staff or contractor resource, the logic for defaulting differs:

  • If you select staff resource, the Branch field with the patient's branch name is enabled and you can select another branch by clicking Select another branch from the drop-down list if needed.
  • If you select contractor resource, the Branch field is cleared and remains disabled since the branch selection is for staff resources only.
