Edit HL7 Message Data window – Patient tab
The Patient tab displays a patient's demographic and medication information, which is grouped in two corresponding subtabs.
The Patient Medications subtab provides the following information:

Message Function |
Function of the current message. The following message functions are supported: NW – insert of medication, and OD or DC – discontinue of medication. |

Prescription ID |
Unique identifier for each instance of a medication that was sent from Hospice Pharmacia. |

Drug Name |
Name of the medicine. |
|
Special Instructions |
Free-text field containing instructions such as dose, frequency, and so on. |
|
GCN Seq No |
Random number specific to all drug products with the same generic ingredients, route of administration, drug strengths, and dosage form. |
|
Start Date |
Date when the patient should start taking the medication. This field is optional. |
|
End Date |
Date when the patient should stop taking the medication. This field is optional. |
Only the fields listed above are stored in the database.
When the message is completed, medication is stored to the Netsmart Homecare database and assigned to the patient as not confirmed medication.
