Administer orders

Prerequisites:

  • Install Avatar Order Entry 2007 Enhancement 31 in order to display the Route field as a single-select dictionary in the Administration Event window.
  • To scan bar code labels:
    • Set up the barcode scanner.
    • Set the Support Medication ID registry setting to 'Y' or 'R' or set the Enable Medication and Quantity Checking registry setting to '1' or '3' to include the Medication ID field un the Administration Event dialog box.

  1. Go to Avatar CWS > eMAR > Avatar eMAR.
  2. Click a cell in the date column for the order.
    OR
    Using a bar code scanner, scan the bar code label. myAvatar eMAR will attempt to locate the corresponding order to be administered.
  3. If a dialog box displays for recording if client education was performed, click Ok or Cancel.
  4. In the Administration Event dialog box, enter administration information in the following sections:
    1. Administration Event Details section
    2. Additional Data (Administration) section
    3. Hours of Administration section
  5. If a role-based restriction for the route of administration or a controlled substance applies to the user, a warning message displays, asking whether to record that the user administered the order. Click Yes to continue with administering the order and record the user's action.
  6. In the Administration Event dialog box, select the Accept administration information entered check box and click OK.
