Set up a pump
Set up a pump as part of inventory and pump management in myAvatar Addiction Management.
- Go to: Avatar PM > Avatar AM Options > Inventory and Pump Management.
- Choose the appropriate Unit # from the toolbar.
- In the dropdown menu select Pump and select Pump Setup.
Note: The Pump Setup screen changes depending on the type of pump selected; when DC10 or SciLog is selected, the Wait Seconds is not displayed. Additional settings may appear on this screen if the Track Pump Tubing Volume option has been turned on. - Choose a COM port on the dispensing station for pump setup; typical COM port selections are either COM1 or COM2. The COM selected on this screen must be the actual COM that the pump is plugged into.
- Select the type of pump that is being connected to the COM port for this unit; the choices are:
- None – select this if no pump is to be used on this unit
- IVEKDC10 – select this if an IVEK DC10 pump is to be used on this unit (Wait Seconds is not visible if this pump type is selected)
- IVEK100 – select this if an IVEK ZT or AccuVert pump is to be used on this unit
- SCILOG – select this if a SciLog AMS-CliniTec pump is to be used on this unit
- Select the Baud rate appropriate for the chosen pump. Most IVEK DC10 pumps use 4800 baud, although older pumps may use 2400 and newer ones may use 9600. AccuVert and SciLog pumps should be set for 9600 baud. It may be necessary to try different baud settings to find the one that is appropriate for the pump being used.
- The Wait Seconds should typically be set at 0.1. This represents the amount of time the application waits for a receive event in the communication control (and thus to read the contents of the communication buffer).
- The Ready Seconds should typically be sent at 2. This is the amount of time the pump loops through certain routines (waiting for a 'READY' response from the pump).
- After you select the appropriate settings and turn on electrical power to the pump, press Set.
Result: If the application can successfully communicate with the pump, no messages display and the light next to the unit on the Inventory and Pump Management screen or the Dispensing screen is green to show that it is 'on'. The pump can now be used for dispensing.
