Clean a pump

Clean a pump as part of inventory and pump management in myAvatar Addiction Management.

You should clean a pump on a regular basis to remove residue in the pump lines and to ensure proper calibration and function. The cleaning process is accessed via the Inventory and Pump Management screen or from the Dispensing screen. 

When cleaning a pump:

  • Typically use hot water or an Alconox solution to clean the pump.
  • It is recommended that the tubes be cleaned three times.
  • Inventory should not be mounted on the unit being cleaned.
  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Avatar AM Options > Inventory and Pump Management. 
  2. Choose the appropriate Unit # from the toolbar.
  3. In the dropdown menu select Pump and select Clean Pump.
  4. Install a bottle of hot water in the pump and place a catch cup under the dispensing tube.
  5. Select OK.
    Result: The pump starts running and water ejects from the pump's dispensing tube until an ample amount of water is run through the tubes. 
  6. After the pump cycle completes:
    • Select Yes to repeat the cleaning cycle.
      OR
    • Select No to move on to empty the pump lines.
  7. Select OK to empty the pump lines.
  8. If all of the water is removed, select Yes to complete the pump cleaning process; choose No if water remains in the tubes and the empty cycle must be run again. Repeat the empty cycle as many times as necessary until all water has been removed.
