Use compliance rules

You can use compliance rules to indicate whether or not a form has been completed on time, and/or according to your organization’s policies (e.g. vital signs being completed at least two weeks after their admission date).

  • The form connected with the compliance rule must be added to the client’s Chart View.
  1. Use the Search Forms field to navigate to the Compliance Rule Definition form.​​

  2. Select the form version for the parent product you are using (CWS version for this example).

  3. Set up a new compliance rule, and schedule the occurrence around the event trigger.
    For example, this rule is set up to create a compliance indicator on the Mental Status Assessment form. The rule will indicate whether or not this form has been completed within 10 days after the patient has been discharged.

Compliance Rule Indicators

Compliance rule indicators are the markings beside a client's information that indicate whether or not an active rule is in or out of compliance for that client. 

  • If the rule has been met already or is not yet due, the rule is considered in compliance and the arrow will appear in black.
  • If the rule was not met at the time of compliance, it will turn red. 
  • No icon displays if:
    • No rules are pending and the chart is in compliance.
    • You do not have access to the form associated with the compliance rule.
    • The client is not in your caseload.

This is simply an indicator and not a reminder. If a rule is broken, the indicator will remain out of compliance. Even if the form is completed later, it was not completed within the compliance rule timeframe and hence is out of compliance permanently.

These indicators are available in the following areas:

  • Chart View 
    Go to the client's Chart View to view the details of that client's record. On this screen, the compliance indicators appear beside the links for the forms with which a rule is associated.
  • Compliance Status Widget
    Enable the Compliance Status widget to see a current status of compliance statuses per client on your Home view.
     
  • My Clients Widget
    If the registry setting Include Compliance Indicators in My Clients Widget is set to Yes, compliance indicators will appear beside the client names in the Client and Staff widget.
    Compliance indicators do not display for clients not in the user's caseload.
