Activate Pre-Authorized Orders

Activate a pre-authorized order so it can be administered.

• When a pre-authorized order is activated it becomes a new order for the client. Orders are pre-authorized in the Pre-Authorize Orders form and can be activated at any time by appropriate users (such as nurses) as needed for the client. This is done in the Order Entry User Definition form.
• Pre-authorized orders are clinically screened before activation if the 'Clinical Screen Feature Available' registry setting is enabled.
• Expired pre-authorizations cannot be activated. They can be renewed in the Pre-Authorize Orders form (Renew Pre-Authorization Of Orders field).

Prerequisites:

• Give the user access to pre-authorize orders in the Order Entry User Role and Order Entry User Definition forms.
• Define the order for pre-authorization in the Orders For Pre-Authorization Setup form.

1. In the Select Client screen, enter the client name or ID and select. Click Select.
2. In the Episode For Which The Selected Pre-Authorized Order Is To Be Activated field, select the client episode.
3. Click Select Pre-Authorized Order For Activation. The Pre-Authorized Orders screen displays orders that have been pre-authorized.
4. Select the pre-authorized order to be activated, click Ok. The remaining fields display information for the selected pre-authorized order.
5. Click File Data And Print Order to activate and print the order, or click File Data to activate the order.
