Staff Service Codes – General tab

Path: Administration > General > Service Codes/Staff

On the General tab you can define the type of activities, telephone calls, visits, and bereavement visits permitted for each staff service code and handle these events in scheduling and productivity reporting within the application using the Exclusion Indicator and Alternate Week Scheduling options. Also, you can mark the service code as Hospice Direct Patient Care Service or a Therapy Discipline Qualifying Visit. In addition, you can capture a Master Charge Code and GL Code for the staff service code.

Agencies can have an activity automatically added to a resource's schedule if the resource is selected as a Case Conference Participant. The Case Conference setting can be enabled for an existing service code with Type: Activity (unrelated to a specific patient). Alternatively, you can create a new service code for this feature. The auto-create activity for the Case Conference setting is unchecked by default and is not required.

The Telehealth Visit option enables the Audio and Video, Audio Only, and Remote Monitoring Device radio buttons. In general, these options are to be used for non-billable visits. A warning displays if another option is selected in the 'Type' field at initial implementation. A new service code is required because new bill rates are needed. The bill rate needs to identify the appropriate HCPCS code based on the type of Telehealth service specified.

Services Codes identified as 'Audio and Video' and 'Audio Only' are added through either Scheduling or TimeLog, as these interact directly with the patient. Services marked as 'Remote Monitoring' can only be added through the Patient > General > Admissions & Status > Remote Monitoring Window.
