Milestones/Goals window

With the Milestones/Goals window, you can add, edit and delete milestones for goals. Goal milestones describe the goal-related results for a patient. The goal milestones are defined by an agency to describe why a goal was met or not met. Goal milestones are used for reports, statistics and clinical documentation.

You must link each milestone to the appropriate milestone type (defined in Milestone Types Window). For example, if you indicate that a patient is not meeting expected progress towards a goal in care plan charting, then only negative milestone responses are available for selection, such as "Co-morbid interference," or "Medication interference".

This window includes the following fields:

Field Description

Code

Enter the code for this goal milestone, up to two alphanumeric characters.

Description

Enter the description for this goal milestone, up to 60 alphanumeric characters.

Response Type

Select the default response type for this goal milestone.

  • Positive – If you want this milestone to be available only for positive goal or intervention responses (meeting expected progress or done). 
  • Negative – If you want this milestone to be available only for negative goal or intervention responses (not meeting expected progress or not done).

Never change the response type of an existing negative milestone from negative to positive. If you do so, your previously entered clinical data will be not valid.

Type

Enter or select the milestone type for this goal milestone.

The types are defined in the Milestone Types Window in Administration>Clinical.

Inactive Date

Enter or select the date this goal milestone is inactive. When you make a milestone inactive, it is no longer available for selection in care plan charting; however, all uses of it in the past remains available and present on reports and documentation.
