Medications window

Path: Administration>Clinical>Medications

The following table describes the fields in detail.

Field Description

Free-text search

Enter the name of the medication to find in the medications grid. For details, see Searching for a Medication.

Show medications

Select the viewing option for medications: All (Read Only) or Non Medi-Span (Editable).

Active

Select the Active check box to make this medication available for use.

Code

Medication code, up to 4 alphanumeric characters.

The first character must be alpha, followed by three numeric characters (for example, A123).

Name

 Medication name, up to 30 alphanumeric characters.

Other name

 The other name of the medication, if any, up to 50 alphanumeric characters.

Medication action

Non Medi-Span medications only:

Action or function of the medication, up to 36 alphanumeric characters.

Side effects

Non Medi-Span medications only: Side effects of the medication, if any.

Strength

 Typical dosage strength of the medication.

Route

Typical medication route code of the medication, up to two characters.

Medication routes are set up in the Medication Routes window.

Form

 Enter the dosage form of the medication, such as CAPS (capsule), SOLN (solution), TABS (tablets), and others.

NDC codes

NDC (National Drug Code) for the medication. NDC codes entered for the medication will be available for selection in the drop-down list in Transactions>General>Medication Invoices when adding the corresponding medication.

HCPCS codes

 Transactions>General>Medication Invoices when adding the corresponding medication. Enter the termination date for the HCPCS code. After this date, the HCPCS code becomes inactive and will not be available for selection.

KDC7

KDC 7 (Knowledge Base Drug Code) of the medication.

KDC3

KDC 3 (Knowledge Base Drug Code) of the medication.

GPI code

GPI code (Generic Product Identifier) of the medication.
