DDF Utility – Define Source and Target Data

Path: Administration>Utilities>DDF Copy Utility

Prerequisite: To use the DDF Copy Utility, the appropriate privilege should be granted for you on the Business Unit level in Administration>Configuration>Operators>Privileges in the Administration category.

In this dialog, you can specify source and target database servers and the Business Units across which data will be copied.

To define source and target data:

  1. In the Welcome to DDF Utility Wizard dialog, click New.
  2. The Select Source Server and Business Unit section contains information on server and Business Unit names that were specified while setting the connections to the database (see DDF Utility – Setup Connections to Database Servers).
    1. The Server Name field contains the name of the source server. You can select another server from the drop-down list.
    2. The Business Unit Name field contains the name of the source Business Unit. You can select another Business Unit from the drop-down list.
    3. Select the Is Training check box if the Business Unit is used for training purposes.
    4. The DB Version field contains the database version number.
    5. If it is Passed status for the source server and Business Unit, then you can use the selected connection. If Failed, specify another connection.
  3. In the Select Target Servers and Business Unit section, add a row to specify target server and Business Unit:
    1. From the Server Name drop-down list, select the name of the target server.
    2. From the Business Unit Name drop-down list, select the name of the target Business Unit.
    3. Select the Is Training check box if the Business Unit is used for training purposes.
    4. The DB Version field contains the database version number.
    5. If it is Passed status for the target server and Business Unit, then you can use this selection for further copying. If Failed, specify another target server and Business Unit.
    6. Select the Use check box opposite the Business Units for which you want to copy data. Note: You can specify more than one Business Unit for copying data.
  4. After specifying source and target database servers and Business Units, click Next.
    1. If you select Business Units that share the same Administration Set, only one Business Unit for each individual Administration Set will be selected for copying. All other Business Units will be disabled.

Note: For copying data, the following must be completed in order:

  1. DDF Utility – Setup Connections to Database Servers
  2. DDF Utility – Define Source and Target Data
  3. DDF Utility – Select Scenario
  4. DDF Utility – Copy Preview
