Remittance Advice report details

Path: Transactions>General>ERAs

The body of the report displays a list of patients and the amounts received for each claim and claim detail, if any. The report columns are the following.

Column Description

Patient

Name and code of a patient.

Claim ID

ID of the claim.

Billing Period

From and through dates of the claim.

Claimed

Total claimed amount of the corresponding claim from file. This is an informational column and it is not taken into account when calculating new balance.

Billed

Total billed amount of the corresponding claim from file. This column is shown only on the Remittance Advice Error report.

Balance

Balance of the claim from the database.

Payment

Payment amount of the corresponding claim.

 Payment Type

Type of a payment:

  • T Takeback – Type of payment coming from the file which is applied first in order to correctly calculate new balance.
  • S Standard – Balance is greater than zero.
  • O – Overpayment – Balance is equal or less than zero.

Adjustment

Adjustment amount of the corresponding claim.

 New Balance

Balance that represents all payments and adjustments applied from the file to the database. The new balance is calculated as balance from the database minus the sum of all payments and adjustments from the file (for more information, see Calculate new balance on ERA report).

Errors

Errors encountered during the ERA file processing. This column is shown only on the Remittance Advice Error report

The section for service lines, if present, shows information about the service DCN, Revenue code, HCPCS/CPT code, service dates, claimed, payment, adjustment, and denial adjustment amounts. For denial adjustments, it also shows adjustment code, name, and amount.

The summary line displays the total number of claims, total amount claimed, total payment, and total adjustment amount.

The lower section of the report shows a legend explaining the amounts shown in the New Balance column and the types of payment:

  • T – Takeback
  • S – Standard
  • O – Overpayment

  • Remittance Advice Update report
  • Remittance Advice Error report
  • Payer Denials report
