Envelope Import

Import a user-defined envelope file that has been exported from another environment.

Prerequisites:

  • An envelope cannot be imported if the envelope will overwrite an envelope (Overwrite Existing field), and dictionaries in the envelope are currently used in the target namespace.
  • If a new envelope is imported into an myAvatar solution, and there are overwrites, the overwrite import should be performed first.
► The imported envelope can include:
  • Forms, inquires, and tables.

  • Data collection instruments.

  • Dictionaries in the data collection instrument.

  • Event logic for imported dictionaries.

  • Reports and report definitions.

  • Table column help messages.

  • Menus and sub menus, if not in the target system, are created in the target system.

  • Selection leafs and service selections (Avatar CWS).

► For multi-server environments:
  • Envelope import files must be imported into the 'BLD' environment first, then exported from the BLD environment so they can be imported into a 'LIVE' or 'UAT' environment.

Prerequisites:

  • The user must be logged in the BUILD environment.

  • The envelope must have been exported in the Export Envelope form.

Note: Once a 'Draft/Final' or 'Draft/Pending Approval/Final' column is added to a table, it cannot be removed from that table or any associated options. A new envelope must be remodeled, omitting the column.

  1. Go to: RADplus Utilities > Modeling
  2. Choose Select Envelope Import File
Result: An Open dialog box displays.
  3. Navigate to the file and select Open.
  4. In the Overwrite Existing Envelope or Create New Envelope field:
  • Select Create New to import a new DCI. New envelopes use the current application build environment.
Note: This will create a copy with the exact same name as the original. Each of the related tables will be updated with a number after the title, but the form name will not. As a best practice, it is recommended to rename the copy so as to differentiate in some way.
  • Select Overwrite Existing to import an updated DCI.
  1. Click Begin Import Scan to check the envelope for errors.
Result: The Import Scan Results field displays warnings or errors for the envelope import:
  • Warnings allow the envelope import.
  • Errors prevent the envelope from being imported.
  1. If appropriate, select Print Import Scan Results to generate a report that displays information in the Import Scan Results field.
  2. In the Load Un-Locked Dictionary Values field, select Yes to load unlocked dictionary values to the User Defined file of the Dictionary Update form.
Note: Dictionary values are not changed when overwriting an envelope.
  3. In the Load Locked Dictionary Values field, select Yes to load locked dictionary values to the User Defined file of the Dictionary Update form.
  4. Select Begin Import.
