Route of Administration Mapping
Convert the Route of Administration field from a text field to a single-select dictionary field in the Client Profile / Physicians Orders form.
Avatar Order Entry > Order Entry System Definitions > Route of Administration Mapping
ROA mapping:
- Mapping the Route of Administration (ROA) values to a standardized dictionary facilitates auto-coding orders sent from myAvatar Order Entry to RxConnect.
- The Route of Administration mapping is done across all Root System Codes. It can be accessed from within any Root System Code, but the values will be the same across all Root System Codes.
- The Route of Administration mapping must be completed and verified before myAvatar Order Entry Enhancement 24 and some subsequent updates can be installed.
- This form has entries for every pre-existing Route of Administration that has been used for any order code, order group, component order, or pre-authorization component order across all Root System Codes.
- The Route of Administration dictionary has an extended data element 'Preferred Description.' When defined, this extended data element displays an alternative to the Micromedex Red Book ROA description. For example, a facility could specify 'IM' as an alternative to 'INTRAMUSCULAR' or 'NG-TUBE' as an alternative to 'NASOGASTRIC TUBE.'
The Route of Administration mapping must be completed and verified before myAvatar OE 2011 Enhancement 24 and some subsequent updates can be installed. Once Enhancement 24 is installed, the Route of Administration mapping data can no longer be modified.
ROA codes:
- The Route of Administration codes in myAvatar Order Entry are derived primarily from the Micromedex Red Book database and correspond to the ROA codes and descriptions used in RxConnect.
- Any ROA values defined for an order code, order group, or pre-authorized order that do no match a code in the ROA dictionary will be changed based on the mapping set up in the Route of Administration form.
- Any ROA value for a specific order that does not match a code in the ROA dictionary will automatically be changed to 'Inactive.'
