Import data from the RxNorm standardized naming database for clinical medications, produced by the National Library of Medicine.

Avatar Order Entry > Order Entry System Definitions > RxNorm Data Import

  • The RxNorm database provides interoperability among different pharmacy databases (First Databank, Micromedex, etc.).
  • The RxNorm data is imported into the Avatar Cache database.

Prerequisites:

  • Download the RxNorm database from the National Library of Medicine website.
  1. In the RxNorm Import Directory field, enter the name of the directory that contains the RxNorm data to be imported.
  2. Click Import.
