Authorization Grouping Definition

Define groups of CPT and revenue codes. When an Authorization Grouping is selected in the Service Authorization form, the services and units assigned to the group here will populate.

  1. Go to: Avatar MSO > System Maintenance > Authorization Grouping Definition
  2. In the Add/Edit/Delete Authorization Grouping field, select Add.

  3. In the Effective Date field, enter the date.

  4. In the Authorization Grouping field, enter a description for the grouping.

  5. Click View Current Group to display the Edit Authorization Grouping screen.

  • Select the group, click Ok.
  1. In the Procedure Code Type field:

  • Select CPT Code to add a CPT code to the group.

  • Select Revenue Code to add a Revenue code to the group.

  1. In the Procedure Code field, select the code.

  2. In the Units field, enter the number of authorized units for the code.
Once these units are used, claims for the code will be denied.

  3. Click Add To Current Group to add the code to the authorization group.

  4. Click Remove From Current Group to remove the code.

  5. Click Display Authorization Grouping(s) to generate an authorization group report, which details authorization groups defined in this form.

  • The report that generates is a Crystal Report. You may find it necessary to modify the column widths to accommodate longer authorization group names or procedure codes.

  • The modified Crystal Report can replace the existing report, named AvatarMSOGroupingDefn, by using the MSO version of Import Report for Command Button Launch.
Warning: It is important to note the existing report's name as it is difficult to identify (there is another report called AvatarMSOGroupingDefnByEffDate). A mistake could overwrite a report that you may not have a copy of to correct/replace/put back.
