Treatment - Meds/Procedures - STD module

In the STD module, the Meds/Procedures Treatment form is where you record and monitor the treatments administered to the patient.

On the main menu navigate to Treatment > Meds/Procedures.

The Diagnosis grid shows information entered on the Diagnosis form. The ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes are pulled directly from OrderConnect for each available Diagnosis option; they cannot be entered from the STD module.

The treatment process follows these steps.

  1. Under Treatment Submission
    1. Select a diagnosis.
    2. Select the treatment category and the treatment. 
  2. Under Treatments
    1. Enter treatment details.
    2. Enter injection information.
  3. Under Patient Delivered Partner Therapy
    1. Select the partner and the treatment number

Treatment submission

The Treatment Submission grid shows all diagnoses for a patient and lists the treatment categories. This is where you associate a treatment with a diagnosis. 

  1. In the Treatment Submission panel, click a diagnosis. The row is highlighted in green.

  1. Below the Diagnosis list, in the rows of treatment categories, click the blue arrow  for the category to be used. A drop-down window appears.
  2. In the Treatment box, click the arrow and select the treatment. 
  3. In the Notes box, enter treatment details. These details are important for identifying the treatment in the Treatments grid below. 

  1. Click Done. The treatment is added to the Treatments grid.
  2. On the toolbar above the menu, click the Save icon

Treatments

The Treatments grid shows all treatments submitted in the Treatment Submission panel. The treatment information includes the medication, type of administration for the treatment, the start date for the treatment, and the name of the person who ordered the treatment.

  1. In the Treatments panel, click a treatment. The row is highlighted in blue and expands to show information entered for Treatment Submission, similar to the following example. 

  1. Click on the treatment row to collapse the entry.
  2. To update treatment information, in the treatment row, click the pencil icon . A window appears for entering treatment details.
  3. Under Treatment Administration, enter the following information.
    1. For the Start Date, enter the date. Optionally click the arrows or the calendar icon  to select a date.
    2. For the Start Time, click the arrows to select the hour, minute, and AM or PM. Optionally click the clock to select the current time.
    3. In the Notes box, enter additional information as needed.
  4. Under Injection Information, enter the following information.
    1. For the Intramuscular Injection Date, enter the date. Optionally click the arrows or the calendar icon  to select a date.
    2. For the Intramuscular Injection Time, click the arrows to select the hour, minute, and AM or PM. Optionally click the clock icon  to select the current time. 
    3. For the Expiration Date, enter the expiration date for the medication. Optionally click the arrows or the calendar icon  to select a date.
    4. In the Lot Number box, enter the lot number from the package.
  5. At the bottom of the window, click Update Entry.
  6. For the Intramuscular Medication - Time Administered item, click the arrows in the hour, minute, and AM/PM boxes to enter the time, or click the clock  to select the current time. 
  7. On the toolbar above the menu, click the Save icon

Patient Delivered Partner therapy

Complete this section if the patient will deliver treatment to a partner off-site.

  1. Below the Patient Delivered Partner Therapy panel, click Add Entry.
  2. In the Partner box, click the arrow and select the partner, identified by the number 1, 2, or 3.
  3. In the Medication box, click the arrow and select the medication administered.
  4. In the Lot Number box, enter the lot number if this is a medication treatment.
  5. In the Field Treatment box, click the arrow and select Yes or No.
  6. In the Date box, enter the date the treatment was delivered to the partner. Optionally click the arrows or the calendar to select a date.
  7. In the Expiration Date box, enter the date the medication is set to expire. Optionally click the arrows or the calendar to select a date.
  8. Click Add Entry.
  9. On the toolbar above the menu, click the Save icon
