Allergies and Hypersensitivities Overview
This form is used to define known or suspected allergens for a client. You can collect, display, void and check medication interactions for client allergies and hypersensitivities.
- If myAvatar Order Entry is used to enter medication orders, then allergies must be recorded in in the Allergies and Hypersensitivities form.
- If your agency has InfoScriber or OrderConnect installed, the Enable Allergy Integration with OrderConnect registry setting must be enabled for allergy and hypersensitivity information to populate in the Allergies and Hypersensitivities form.
- In the Include Allergies on Report field, select Active, Inactive or Both. Then click Display to generate report that displays the currently defined allergies or hypersensitivities for the client.
- Click Update to open the Allergies and Hypersensitivies screen.
- You can create a new data row, delete existing data rows or double-click to edit existing data rows. Click Save in order to save the worksheet and return to the main form.
- When a new allergy is added or current allergies are modified, if the FDB and myAvatar Order Entry are installed, current medications will be checked for drug or allergy interactions.
If any drug or allergy interactions are found, a message will display the interaction information. - Allergies with a Status defined as inactive (No selected in the Active Allergy extended data element of the Status dictionary), will display in the Inactive section of the report.
- The recommended best practice is to document whether the allergies and hypersensitivities have been reviewed for the client.

- To create an allergen code, select Add in the Allergen/Reactant Code Setup form.
- New allergen codes will populate with “USERalg” to indicate the code is user defined.
You have the ability to import Allergen/Reactant dictionary values using the File Import form in myAvatar PM.
This allows the agency to quickly populate and easily maintain the allergy dictionary set.
