Process signed CTIs (Certification of Terminal Illness)

Path: Transactions>General>Process Signed Documents

Prerequisite: To access the CTI tab of the Process Signed Documents window, you need to have the appropriate privileges granted by the Netsmart Homecare administrator.

If you received the CTI document with the physician's signature, you need to mark its status as Signed. For CTI form A and B that must be signed by both CTI and Attending physicians, you can select the interim statuses (Signed by MD CTI only and Signed by Attending MD only) when only one signature is obtained, and then send for the second signature.

  1. Go to Transactions>General>Process Signed Documents, and then click the CTI tab.
  2. Select the physician for whom you want to process the CTI document and, if needed, change the default date range.
  3. Select the appropriate status for the CTI:
    1. Signed – To indicate that the CTI has been signed.
For the Physician Portal users, all the signed CTIs automatically appear with the Signed status and the E check box selected.
    2. Signed by MD CTI only – Applicable for CTI form A and CTI form B that must be signed by two physicians: CTI and Attending. Select to indicate that the documents have been signed by MD CTI only. Only after obtaining the second signature, you can mark it as signed.
For the Physician Portal users, all the signed CTIs automatically appear with the Signed by MD CTI only status and the E check box selected.
    3. Signed by Attending MD only – Applicable for CTI form A and CTI form B that must be signed by two physicians: CTI and Attending. Select to indicate that the documents have been signed by Attending MD only. After obtaining the second signature, the Signed status can be selected.
For the Physician Portal users, all the signed CTIs automatically appear with the Signed by Attending MD only status and the E check box selected.
    4. Rejected – To reject the CTI. When rejecting, specify the reason.
The system generates a new document with the identical clinical information, but the rejected CTI is retained for historical purposes. Correct the clinical items and then process the CTI again. The rejected CTIs appear in Orders>Demand Documents>Certification of Terminal Illness and Patient>Documents>Certification of Terminal Illness.
  4. Save your changes.
