Test Designer access and security

In NX Test Designer you can access three categories of tests: Test Designer - People, Test Designer - Profiles, and Test Designer - Cases. 

Navigate to NX Test Designer using the following paths.

Setup > System Tools - Internal Use Only > Test Design > Test Designer - People

Setup > System Tools - Internal Use Only > Test Design > Test Designer - Profiles

Setup > System Tools - Internal Use Only > Test Design > Test Designer - Cases

You can also open NX Test Designer from within NX Form Designer

To use NX Test Designer you may need to configure or adjust your access rights to different resources.

Configure security access to create new test headers

To create new test headers while editing a test form line in Test Designer, you must have access to the New button on the Test Header Setup Lookup table.

  1. Navigate to
    • Agency Setup > Staff and Security Setup > Navigation Access > Access to New Button
    • Setup > Security/Access > Navigation Access Setup > Access to New Button
  2. In the module header click Navigation Scheme and select a scheme.
  3. In the toolbar click Access to New Button.
  4. In the Look-Up list go to the Test Header Setup Lookup table and click in the Has Access column to toggle to a green check mark.  
  5. In the toolbar click Save.

Configure security access to Test Designer form set and forms

To access the Test Designer you must have access to the form set and forms within your security scheme.

  1. Navigate to
    • Agency Setup > Staff and Security Setup > Navigation Access > Access to Forms
    • Setup > Security/Access > Navigation Access Setup > Access to New Button
  2. In the module header click Navigation Scheme and select a scheme.
  3. In the toolbar click in the first box to the right of Select a Module and select a module.
  4. In the second box to the right, enter a search term. Click the drop-down arrow and select the combination of Module > Sub Module > Menu Caption > Tab Caption for which you want to change access.
  5. Optionally, in the list of sub modules, form sets, and form names, click in the Has Access column to toggle to a green check mark.
  6. In the toolbar click Save.
