Create an ODBC Connection

  1. Log in to your VPN.
  2. Once connected, confirm you are logged in to myAvatar NX.
  3. Open ODBC Data Sources. In the Start Menu, Search ODBC and hit enter.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Select InterSystems ODBC and click Finish.

  6. Name the Data Source and give it a Description. This should reflect the particular client as well as the namespace you are connecting to.

  7. Define the Connection. The Host Name will now use the ECP address for NX.
    • Enter the ECP Address for the applicable environment into the Host (IP Address) field. Your Netsmart Consultant provided the ECP Address.
    • Make sure the Port is 1972.
    • Enter the Cache Namespace in all caps. This will either be AVPM or AVCWS depending on which namespace you are connecting to.

  8. Configure the Authentication Method
    • Select Password.
    • Enter the same Username and Password that you are logged in to myAvatar NX with.
  9. Click Test Connection.

  10. After receiving the Connectivity Test Completed Successfully message, remove the Username and Password and click OK.

  11. If the message says Login Failed, confirm the following:
    • Host Name is correct.
    • You are logged in to NX.
    • Port is set to 1972.
    • You are logged in to the VPN.

Note: A separate connection will need to be established for each associated environment (i.e. UAT, SBOX, BLD, LIVE).
