eMAR Setup section
Complete the eMAR setup in the Order Code Setup form.
- To include the eMAR fields on the Order Code Setup form, set the Show eMAR Fields in Order Code Setup registry setting to Y.
- The eMAR setup options specify whether additional data elements are included for administrations or results, whether a pain scale is included, and whether follow-up reminders are allowed.
- In the Additional Data Elements fields, select the additional data elements that are available or required when administration events or results are entered in myAvatar eMAR.
Result: Selecting Blood Pressure adds the Blood Pressure and Position fields to the Additional Data (Administration) section in the Administration Event dialog in myAvatar eMAR. - For the Include Pain Scale In myAvatar eMAR field, select Yes to associate a pain scale with an order code in myAvatar eMAR. The pain scale appears when an administration event is filed for an order that uses the order code.
- In the eMAR Administration Window (Minutes) field, enter the number of minutes to be used for the administration time window for the specific order code. In eMAR, if a user attempts to administer an order that is outside the time window specified in this field, a warning message appears. The value entered in this field supersedes the value entered in the Allow Administration Events for # of Minutes From Scheduled Time registry setting.
- Select whether to Require a Witness in myAvatar eMAR. Selecting Yes makes the Witnessed By field required when recording administration events for designated Order Codes. (Functionality added via OE 2017 Update 11, and eMAR 2017 Update 5)
Important: It is your organization's responsibility when using eMAR Witness functionality to ensure HIPAA Privacy Rules are followed. Organizational policies and procedures should be in place to ensure users are not leaving sessions logged in and unattended.
- In the eMAR Follow-Up Reminder field, select Yes to send a follow-up reminder in myAvatar eMAR. Selecting Yes enables the next three fields for follow-up reminders.
- For the Suppress Follow-Up Reminders for the Following Types of Orders field, select the order types for which the system should stop sending following-up reminders.
- In the Time Interval For Follow-Up Reminder (Minutes) field, set the number of minutes to allow after an administration event is filed before sending a follow-up reminder. If a value is entered, follow-up reminders are due at that number of minutes after an administration event is filed. If no value is entered, follow-up reminders do not have a due date.
- For the eMAR Follow-Up Reminder Heading field, select the heading that appears in the follow-up reminder for an order that uses this order code.
Note: Responses in the Follow-Up Reminder fields affect how follow-up reminders are generated when an administration event is filed in myAvatar eMAR. - For the Require Product Data During eMAR Administration Event field, select Yes to require product data (manufacturer, lot number, and expiration date) when an administration event is filed in myAvatar eMAR.
- Select Submit.
