For reference, Netsmart used the following industry standards when creating the NKID: National Cancer Institute (NCI), SNOMED (SCT) and Unified Codes for Unit of Measure (UCUM).
When an external pharmacy has been defined, the system will not use the dose unit dictionary. Instead, it will use a standard OrderConnect dictionary. Based on logic dependent on drug form and route, the system will default the appropriate dose unit if it can do so safely.
