Clinical Alert Definition
Set up alerts to be triggered in the Order Entry Console based on client acuity.
Prerequisites:
- Acuity rules must be set up in Acuity Rule Definition.
- When an order is added through the Order Entry Console, the system will check for acuity rules connected to each order code included. If an alert is found for an order code, a warning icon will appear on the order indicating that at least one warning has been found with this order.
- Go to Avatar Order Entry > Order Entry System Definition > Clinical Alert Definition.
- In the Add/Edit field, select:
- Add to enter a new alert.
- Edit to change an existing alert.
Click Select Clinical Alert to Edit to launch
- In the Description field, enter a name or description for the clinical alert.
- In the Order Codes field, enter all or part of an order code name and click Process Search.
The drop-down populates will all codes meeting your search term. - Select a code from the list. The Current Order field displays the associated codes for each order selected.
- To remove entries, click Clear Entries. You will be prompted to choose whether to remove All entries or only Select entries.
- All clears the entire field upon your confirmation.
- Select opens a window from where you can choose the specific codes to remove. Click OK.
- Click Display Values for Current Entries to open a view window displaying all currently selected values. Click OK.
- In the Acuity Domain field, select the domain associated to the rule that was set up in Acuity Rule Definition.
- In the Practitioner Category field, select the type of practitioner that is associated to the acuity rule.
- In the Acuity Subdomain field, select the subdomain that was created as part of the rule.
- In the Acuity Score Low field, enter the lowest score to trigger the alert.
- In the Acuity Score High field, enter the highest score to trigger the alert.
- In the Message field, enter the message that will display when clinical alert checking is performed.
Alert Definitions
- The Alert Definitions field displays the information filed for the selected alert definition.
- Click Remove Alert Definition to delete this record.
- Click List All Clinical Alert Definitions to generate a report detailing all definition records.
