Administration overview
Orders administered in myAvatar eMAR are prescribed by the practitioner in the myAvatar Clinician Workstation (CWS) Order Entry module.
- The practitioner can add, remove, or renew orders at any time in the Order Entry system.
- Clients are listed in eMAR according to filter selections. To be listed in eMAR, a client must be located in a unit and have at least one active order on the selected date.
- Active orders have a start date before or equal to the administration date and a stop date equal to or later than the administration date.
- Orders are considered active for an administration date if:
- The order start date is before or equal to the order administration data.
- The order stop date is equal to or later than the order administration date.
- The order has a discontinue date equal to or later than the order administration date.
- Stop and Discontinue dates can be set for a future date. If an order contains both a stop date and discontinue date, the earlier date and time are used as the order effective stop date and time.
The basic workflow of administering an order is:
- Pharmacy Verification (If required)
- Order Acknowledgement (If required)
- Client Education (If requested)
- Order Administration
Note: The value for the Prevent Administration Events for Unverified Pharmacy Orders registry setting determines whether an unverified order can be administered.
