Define client and caregiver education

Define standard instructions for each type of educational material given to a client, or a client's caregiver.

  • Entries defined in the Client/Caregiver Education Instructions Definition populate this form, and can be edited.

Prerequisites:


  1. Go to: Avatar CWS > Other Chart Entry > Client/Caregiver Education.
  2. In the Select Client screen, enter the client ID in the Client Name/ID field, search for and select the client.
    • If the client has multiple episodes, select the client's episode, click Ok.
  3. If the client has previous client/caregiver education records, select the record, click Edit.
  4. In the Education Type field, select the type of education.
    • If Other is chosen, in the Specify Other Education Type field enter the type of education.
  5. In the Education Recipient field, select the person receiving education.
    • If Other is chosen, in the Specify Other Education Recipient field enter the other recipient.
  6. In the Date Provided field, enter the date.
  7. In the Education Method field, enter the education delivery method.
    • If Other is chosen, in the Specify Other Education Method field enter the other method.
  8. In the Education Method Comments field, enter comments.
  9. In the Instructions field, enter instructions for the education type.
    • If instruction text is defined on the Client/Caregiver Education Instructions Definition form, Standard Instructions field, that text populates and can be edited.
  10. In the Select Test Result field, choose the result created through the Lab Results quick form.
    • Results entered in myAvatar Order Entry and the myAvatar Results Table populate.
  11. Click Launch to open the Test Results website.
    • A web browser displays information for the selected test result.
  12. In the Problem field, choose the problem created through the Problem List form.
    • Problems entered in the Problem List form populate.
  13. Click Launch Problems Website.
    • A web browser displays information for the problem.
  14. In the Select Medication field, choose the medication created through the Current Medications quick form.
    • Orders entered in myAvatar OrderConnect/Home Medication populate.
  15. Click Launch Medications Website.
    • A web browser displays information for the medication.
  16. In the Level of Understanding field, select the client's level of understanding.
    • If Other is chosen, in the Specify Other Level of Understanding field enter the other level.
  17. In the Level of Understanding Comments field, enter comments.
  18. In the Barriers to Understanding field, select barriers that prevent the client from understanding the education.
    • If Other is chosen, in the Specify Other Barriers to Understanding field, enter the other barriers.
  19. In the Barriers to Understanding Comments field, enter comments.
  20. In the Education Recommendations field, select recommendations for further client education.
    • If Other is chosen, in the Specify Other Education Recommendations field, enter the other recommendation.
  21. In the Education Recommendations Comments field, enter comments.
  22. In the General Education Comments field, enter general comments.
  23. Click File (page 1).
  24. Click Print Instructions (page 1) to generate a report that shows the client's education instructions.
