Authorizations

View service authorization activity filed for a client in ProviderConnect and Avatar MSO.

Details

Service authorization information is display-only for ProviderConnect administrators.

  • Submitting a service authorization in the Service Authorization form (Avatar MSO) assigns a contracting provider (Provider To Be Authorized field) to a client.

  • Providers can create and edit service authorizations.

  • ProviderConnect coordinating providers can create and edit service authorizations for a client associated with any ProviderConnect agency.

  • When a service authorization request is filed in ProviderConnect it is sent to Avatar MSO with a status of pending.

  • The demographic record for the provider is created using the most recent client information in the Avatar PM admission record.

  • A service authorization must be filed in the Service Authorization form (Avatar MSO). The contracting provider (Provider To Be Authorized field) can create and edit service authorizations for the client in ProviderConnect or Avatar MSO.

  • CPT codes must have been created in the CPT Code Definition form (Avatar MSO).

  • Revenue codes must have been created in the Revenue Code Definition form (Avatar MSO).

  • CPT codes or revenue codes must have been associated with a provider and provider fee definition in the Provider Fee Definition form (Avatar MSO).

  • Files can be attached to service authorization requests in this form, and through the ProviderConnect File Attach form (Avatar PM).

Steps

  1. In the Main Menu, click Lookup Client.

  • The Search Criteria screen displays.
  1. Enter the client's name, ID, social security number.

  2. Select the provider agency associated to the client.

  • To display all clients, enter no data, and click Search by Criteria.
  1. In the Search Results screen, click the client ID number.

  2. In the Client Sidebar menu click Authorizations.

  1. Click All Providers to view authorizations for all of the client's providers.

  2. Click a client provider to view the authorization request  for that provider.

  3. Click an authorization number (Auth Number column) to view the authorization request details.

  • The authorization status displays at the top of the screen.
    Generate the Authorization Request Status report to track the status of service authorizations.
