Quick Medication Order
Use the Quick Medication Order form in myAvatar AM NX to create and edit directions provided by a prescribing practitioner for administering a specific medication to a client.
Prerequisites:
- Medication types must be entered prior to entering medication orders.
- If template order types are used, the template must be created prior to entering the medication order.
- Go to: Avatar AM > Avatar AM Options > Quick Medication Order.
- Select the ordering practitioner from the Ordering Practitioner dropdown list.
- Required. For Medication Type, choose a current, active medication received into inventory from the dropdown list.
- Required. Select the Effective Date when the medication order takes effect.
- Required. Select the Expiration Date when the medication order expires.
Note: You have the option to allow dosing on the expiration date. - Required. Choose the Order Type:
- Template - Use this order type to assign a specific dosing schedule that is not based on a standard week. For example, there may be a two-week schedule: week one includes clinic visits every day, and week two includes clinic visits for each week day and takeouts for the weekend.
- Short - Use this order type if the client is either guest dosing at the facility or is assigned a short order so that a reevaluation can be completed to establish a more permanent dosing schedule.
- Program - Use this order type to create a taper program where the dosage is reduced over a period of time at regular intervals. For instance, the taper program may begin at 50 mg and be reduced by 5 mg every 90 days.
- Recurring - Use this order type for a set schedule of clinic and takeout visits based on the days of the week. A common recurring schedule is clinic visits Monday through Friday and takeout for Saturday and Sunday.
- Required. Choose the Dosage Type.
- Required. Select the Active status as Yes or No.

- Med Order Info - See the history of medication orders available for selection and the associated dispensing schedule.
- Dosing History - See the history of dosages dispensed to the client including the date, dosage, medication, and other information.
- Medical Notes Review - Review existing progress notes.
- Medical Information - See medication information such as conditions the client is being treated for by other practitioners, such as PCP.
