Scrolling Free Text Templates

Use the Scrolling Free Text Templates form to manage text templates for scrolling free-text fields in data collection instruments (DCI). Templates defined in this form are available to all users and are included when an envelope is imported or exported.

Prerequisites:

  • The table being accessed must have a scrolling free text field.


  1. From the myDay view, use the search bar to locate the Scrolling Free Text Templates form. A version of this form exists for PM, CFMS, CWS, and MSO.
  2. In the table search window, enter the name of the table that the scrolling free text field is located in. As you type, the search bar displays tables based on your search.
  3. Select the table and the Scrolling Free Text Templates form opens.
  4. The first section of the form, Table Name and Table Description, are display-only. These were previously configured in Table Definition
    • Table Name displays the SQL table name.
    • Table Description displays the table description.
  5. In the Scrolling Text Templates table, select Add New Item.
  6. In the Scrolling Text Table Column field, select the scrolling text data column to be added. 
  7. In the Template Description field, enter the description to display in the scrolling text template right-click menu.
  8. In the Template Contents field, enter the scrolling text template contents. 
    Note: This field can contain keywords selected in the Keywords field.
  9. In the Keywords field, select keywords. These will automatically populate information into the template.
  10. Select View Sample to display a template sample screen. This allows you to see how the template will display when entered into the form.
  11. Select Okay to return to the form, or select Deactivate Template if appropriate.
    Note: Deactivated templates do not display in the System Templates menus.
  12. Select Submit.
