Sliding Fee Scale - PM

Create a group of rules and entries for a sliding fee scale definition. A sliding fee scale adjusts the amount to charge a client for services according to their income and number of dependents.

  • If a sliding fee scale is to be used, it MUST be used with a Non-Contract Payor.
  • Once defined, the sliding fee scale can be associated with a benefit plan (through the Benefit Plans form).
  • A client’s financial information for sliding fee scale calculation is entered in the Financial Investigation, or Call Intake forms.

Prerequisites:


  1. Go to:  Avatar PM > System Maintenance > System Definition > Sliding Fee Scale

  2. In the Select Sliding Fee Scale window, enter the sliding fee scale ID# or description and click the search button.

    • To edit an existing sliding fee scale, select it from the results list.

    • If a sliding fee scale by the searched name does not exist, click the Create New Sliding Fee Scale button to create a new sliding fee scale.

  3. In the Name field, enter the name of the sliding fee scale.

  4. In the Sliding Fee Scale Value field, choose how the sliding fee calculation table is calculated (defined in the Calculation Table tab).
    The following selections apply an upper limit to what a client can be charged:

    • Select Dollar Limit Per Service to set the service charge for a client.
    • Select Dollar Limit Per Day to set the total amount to charge a client per day.
    • Select Dollar Limit Per Month to set the total amount to charge a client per month.
    • Select Dollar Limit to set a total overall amount to charge the client.
    • Select Percentage Of Coverage to set the percentage of the total coverage to charge the client.
  5. Set the Effective Date and Expiration Date for the sliding fee scale.

  6. Click the Print Scale Table button to view a report of the sliding fee scales currently on the system.

  7. When finished, click Submit to record the changes.
