Put Orders On Hold During Leave

What are we doing?

Adding functionality to automatically put all Order Entry (Orders This Episode section) orders on hold for an episode when an episodic leave is filed.

Why are we doing it?

Within an inpatient setting it is common for a patient to need to leave a facility temporarily (emergency room visit, weekend pass, and so on). This temporary absence from the facility is referred to as a "leave". During the time a patient is on leave, orders are typically put on hold until their return. Upon return, there is a clinical need to reconcile medication orders (covered via Ad-Hoc Reconciliation).

Currently myAvatar supports automatic discontinuation of orders upon leave, but it has been highly requested to allow the automatic holding of orders on leave.

How are we doing it?

Depending on the Type of Leave being filed (customizable by facility), myAvatar will automatically file a hold action against all orders associated with the episode for which a client is being put on leave.

myAvatar eMAR NX will also be updated to display orders as "on hold". Doses will not display as due while on hold.
