Location Field Enhancements - MSO

This article describes a 2024 planned feature delivered through the myAvatar Product Roadmap. This information is subject to change.

What are we doing?

Updating the registry setting MSO Location Field with additional values that will allow for more accurate Location capture for professional claims that are manually entered in MSO and ProviderConnect NX.

Why are we doing it?

There is an existing registry setting MSO Location Field that defines how the Location field should be entered and processed for manually entered claims. This setting applies to all claim processing forms - Fast Service Entry (Submission), Claim Processing and Claim Processing with Override forms for both 1500 and UB04.  Most organizations have this setting set to '4' to display, require, and push the Location to the parent system. However, the Location is only applicable to professional claims and is not a relevant selection for institutional claims. Currently, if an end user has to manually enter an institutional claim or edit an institutional claim in the Claim Processing (UB-04) forms, they have to choose a Location even though it is not relevant to the claim.

This enhancement will allow organizations to configure the Location selection for institutional services as optional.

How are we doing it?

This enhancement will add the following values and functionality to the existing "MSO Location Field" registry setting:

  • Add a value of '5': Display and require 'Location' in Fast Service Entry, Fast Service Entry Submission, Claim Processing (CMS 1500), and Claim Processing with Override (CMS 1500).
    • When selecting this value, it will make the Location field optional in Claim Processing (UB-04) and Claim Processing with Override (UB-04).
  • Add a value of '6': Display, require, and push 'Location' to Parent System in Fast Service Entry, Fast Service Entry Submission, Claim Processing (CMS 1500), and Claim Processing with Override (CMS 1500).
    • When selecting this value, it will make the Location field optional in Claim Processing (UB-04) and Claim Processing with Override (UB-04).
