Add Binary Tables to Pretemp Schema

This article describes a 2024 planned feature delivered through the myAvatar Product Roadmap. This information is subject to change.

What are we doing?

For modeled forms that include capturing binary information, specifically signature images captured via a signature pad or touch device, the binary table containing the image information will be included in the pretemp schema.

Why are we doing it?

Document Routing Crystal Reports and pre-filing reports are generated based on data entered in the form and stored in a temporary location. That location is in the PRETEMP schema. Binary information, such as signature image files, can only be included on the Crystal Report by saving as draft, which commits the binary file to the standard binary table, then re-opening the form. The update to make the binary tables accessible as pretemp tables will allow for including images, such as signature files, within a Document Routing Crystal Report or pre-filing report without the need to save as draft. This represents a significant improvement in the clinical documentation workflow.

How are we doing it?

A binary table associated with the primary table for the form will be included with the other tables for the form in the PRETEMP schema for use in pre-filing reports, including the potential use of a Document Routing Crystal Report.
