Allow Using ICD-9-CM Procedure Codes - Registry Setting

This registry setting allows you to determine the type of lookup to use for procedure codes on the UB-92/UB-04/837I Billing Maintenance Screen.

'Y' uses the ICD-9 procedure code lookup, which searches the ICD-9-CM procedure codes table.
The following fields will have the ability to search procedure codes by code or description in UB-92/UB-04/837I Billing Maintenance Screen form:

  • Principal Procedure Code (2300-HI:Principal Procedure Information-01-2/UB-04 Form Locator 74)
  • Other Procedure Code 1 (2300-HI:Other Procedure Information-01-2/UB-04 Form Locator 74-A)
  • Other Procedure Code 2 (2300-HI:Other Procedure Information-02-2/UB-04 Form Locator 74-B)
  • Other Procedure Code 3 (2300-HI:Other Procedure Information-03-2/UB-04 Form Locator 74-C)
  • Other Procedure Code 4 (2300-HI:Other Procedure Information-04-2/UB-04 Form Locator 74-D)
  • Other Procedure Code 5 (2300-HI:Other Procedure Information-05-2/UB-04 Form Locator 74-E)

Selecting Yes also enables the ICD-9-CM Procedure Code Definition form, where these codes can be entered and maintained.

 Any procedure code data that has been filed from the UB-92/UB-04/837I Billing Maintenance Screen prior to changing this setting will remain in the database, unless it is overwritten. Such data will be seen as 'Invalid' in corresponding '_value' fields in the 'billing_maint_hist_ub92' SQL table, unless the code is valid as both an ICD-9 diagnosis code and ICD-9 procedure code.

'N' uses the Diagnosis code lookup.
