Signature Validation Functionality
The Signature Validation module supports Topaz signature pads.
Details
Avatar Signature with Validation is software that allows the Topaz signature pad to interact with Netsmart Avatar. When the signature functionality is enabled, the signature authentication file allows users with signature requirements to:
Log into the Avatar Application
- When a user has a Signature Authentication File, they must provide a signature in addition to a User ID and Password upon login. Failure to provide the signature within a defined timeout denies the user access to the application.
- A user is allowed three login attempts. If a valid signature is not provided by the third attempt, a Failed Login Signature dialog box displays. The user must click OK to cancel the login and re-start the login process.
File User-Defined options that require a signature upon filing the option
- When a user has a Signature Authentication File, they must provide a signature before filing options that are defined as requiring a signature.
- When the Require Signature at Option Filing, and Authenticate Against Currently Logged In User fields are set to Yes, only users with Signature Authentication Files are able to file options.
- A user is allowed three attempts. If a valid signature is not provided by the third attempt, a Failed Login Signature dialog box displays. The user must click OK to cancel the login and re-start the login process.
- If a user does not have a signature authentication file the No Signature Authentication File dialog displays and the user is prevented from filing the option.
- The User Signature option is used to add a user signature into the system, or to delete a signature authentication file. This option creates the reference signature authentication file that is compared to the user signature for the following security enhancements:
- The signature authentication file is used to compare the login signature when logging into the application.
- The signature authentication file is used to compare the filing signature when filing a signature required user-defined option.
Only users for which a signature authentication file is created are required to sign in upon application login or provide a signature to file a signature required user-defined option.
SQL Tables
For security reasons, the signature authentication file table is not available through SQL.
- RADplus.audit_failed_login - This table records the failed login attempts when the login signature cannot be validated against the signature authentication file by the third attempt.
- RADplus.audit_system_usage_data - This table records entry into this option. This information includes the user names as well as the usage date and time.
