Order Group Setup
Define an order group, a set of related order codes that can be selected when creating new orders.

- An order group can define a set of order codes considered at a certain time (admissions) or a set of order codes frequently used in conjunction with one another (lab tests). Each order code (or component) in the order group can be defined individually with characteristics such as dosage, quantity, order text, frequency code, and reason code. Being able to select from pre-defined order codes in an order group standardizes the order creation process.
- When using an order group to create a new order, the user can select any order code in the order group.
- In the Select Order Group Description or # screen, enter a new order group name or ID or select an existing one.
- In the Description field, enter the order group description.
- If appropriate, in the Deactivate Order Group Code field select Deactivate. Deactivating an order group makes the group unavailable in Order Entry but does not delete it. The order group can be reactivated by deselecting this field.
- For the 'Use The Assigned 'Order Display Rank' When Accessing This Order Group To Create New Orders' field, select Yes to list order group components by number in the Create New Order From 'Order Group' field (Create Orders). Rank numbers are entered in the Order Display Rank field (Order Group Components section) of this form. Component orders that have not been assigned an order display rank appear at the end of the list.
- In the Check Here If This Order Group Is A Taper Or Titration field, select Taper/Titration Series of Orders if the order group is for a taper or titration series of orders. Selecting this field enables the For A Taper/Titration Series of Orders, Use Start Date Offset field.
- In the For A Taper/Titration Series Of Orders, Use Start Date Offset field, select Yes to use the value entered in the Start Date Offset (Days) field (Order Group Components section). The start date for each order is defaulted by adding the designated Start Days Offset (Days) value to the current date. The Start Time defaults to the same value as the previous order in the series.
If No is selected, each subsequent order in the taper or titration series of orders will default the start date and start time to a value that is equal to the previous order's Stop Date/Stop Time plus 1 minute. - Click View All Order Groups to display a report of all order groups in myAvatar Order Entry.
- Complete the Order Group Components section.
- Click Submit.
