Consent For Access - HIE Section - Cal-PM

Manage HIE consents.

Note: Previously filed data cannot be deleted.

  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > Client Information > HIE Section
  2. The Consent for HIE grid displays the information for the system's current HIE consents.
  3. In the HIE to Access field, select the HIE. This field is populated by the Refresh HIE List button on the CareConnect CCD Upload Configuration form.
Note: If the HIE configured in previous steps cannot be found, return to the configuration form and click Refresh HIE List.
  4. In the Consent to Query field, select whether the consent for the organization to access the client's health information is to be granted, revoked or permitted for emergency.
    • If Emergency Only, consent may or may not be accessible in myAvatar
    • The Consent to Query field is enabled when the Consent Required For field on the CareConnect CCD Upload Configuration form is set to Consent to Query.
    • When this form is filed, information will be transmitted to CareConnect.
    • If the HIE has been configured to require consent on send, the Consent to Query field and associated options will be disabled.
  5. In the Consent to Send field, select whether the consent for the organization to send the client's health information is to be granted or revoked.
    • This field is enabled when the Consent Required For field on the CareConnect CCD Upload Configuration form is set to Consent to Send.
    • When this form is submitted, this information can be included with information sent to CareConnect.
    • If the HIE has been configured to require consent on send, the Consent to Send field and associated options will be disabled.
  6. In the Start Date and End Date fields, enter the beginning and ending dates for the consent, as required.
    • Some organizations may have a policy in place whereby consent must be renewed each year. In that scenario they may choose to enter an end date when granting consent, though an end date is not required. In the instance that no end date is required, consent will remain in effect until revoked.
    • If consent is being revoked, end date will not be enabled.
