eMAR Bar Coding prefixes

Code eMAR fields with required prefixes to facilitate recognizing bar code data.

• eMAR fields cannot accept scanned bar code data unless they are coded with required prefixes. 
• Scanned information is added to the fields regardless of which field is active. It is not necessary to be in a bar code-enabled field.
• Bar-code prefixes that can be used for various types of data elements should be followed by a colon.

Prerequisites:

• Set up the bar code scanner.

1. For fields in the eMAR main form, add the required prefixes.
