Dietary Orders in Task List

Dietary Orders

Dietary tasks display in the Task List when there is a dietary oral order for a client. Having Dietary Orders within Task List permits users to administer and document dietary oral orders in a single console. When viewing Dietary Orders, users can see all valid dietary orders (both current and overdue) and select which order time and date to be administered/documented. This is especially valuable for clients that have multiple dietary oral orders in the same period.

If a Dietary Order requires client acknowledgement or education, users can record those tasks prior to administering and documenting the dietary order. The workflows and displays for Dietary Orders are as follows:

Nutrition Orders

The Nutrition Orders dialog displays when users click on the Dietary task.

Field Description

Client Name

Client Name (as defined in Demographics).

Age

Client Age (as defined in Demographics).

ID

Client ID (as defined in Admission).

Location

Location of the client.

Dietary Name

Name of dietary order to be administered.

Frequency

Scheduled time and frequency of dietary order.

Reason

Detailed reason for why dietary order is needed.

Order Number

Order number for dietary order.

List of valid times for a dietary order

Select which dietary time and date to be documented for. All current and overdue tasks for the dietary order will be listed for single-select.

Acknowledgement

Displays when acknowledgement is required for dietary administration. If acknowledgement is needed before administration, an icon displays with the corresponding specimen order.

Education

Displays when education is required for dietary administration. If education is needed before administration, an icon displays with the corresponding specimen order.

Order Acknowledgement 

The Order Acknowledgement dialog displays when order acknowledgement is required for the selected dietary order.

Field  Description Notes

Acknowledged By

Search/select the staff member recording acknowledgement.

The logged in user will default, but there is ability to select another user if necessary.

Acknowledgement Date

Record the acknowledgement date.

The current date will default, but there is the ability to change the date if necessary.

Acknowledgement Time

Record the acknowledgement time.

The current time will default, but there is the ability to change the time if necessary.

 

Education

The Education dialogue displays when education is required for the selected dietary order.

Field Description Notes

Education By

Search/select the staff member recording education.

The logged in user will default, but there is ability to select another user if necessary.

Education Date

Record the education date.

The current date will default, but there is the ability to change the date if necessary.

Education Time

Record the education time.

The current time will default, but there is the ability to change the time if necessary.

 

Dietary - Oral Administration

The Dietary - Oral Administration dialog displays once users have selected available dietary orders to administer and have completed order acknowledgement and/or education (if applicable).

 

Specimen Collection
Field Description

Date of Collection

Date of collection is defaulted, but users can change (if necessary).

Time of Collection

Time of collection is defaulted, but users can change (if necessary).

Default Administration Event

Select the default administration event (if necessary).

Scheduled Collection Date

The date originally scheduled for the dietary order will default and cannot be changed by the logged in user.

Scheduled Collection Time

The time originally scheduled for the dietary order will default and cannot be changed by the logged in user.

Quantity

Document the quantity of the diet administration

Administration Event

Select the Administration Event for the dietary order. The options for administration event include:

  • Does Held – Will Try Again
  • Missed Dose
  • Nurse Administered
  • Partial Dose
  • Refused
  • Self-Administered

Client Signature

Indicate if there is a client signature. When selected, record the client’s signature by selecting ‘Capture Client Signature’.

Note: If the client signature could not be captured, select ‘Could Not Capture Signature’ and document the reason.

Witnessed By

Indicate if the dietary administration was witnessed. When selected, the witness must record their name and password on the current form.
