Manage inpatient bed assignments.
Reserve a bed
- Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
- Select Bed Management.
Result: A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date. - To reserve a bed, select an unassigned slot on the grid and click the Reserve button.
- Search for the desired client in the Client field. You can perform a search based on any of the following criteria:
- Name/Client ID
- Alias
- Claim Number
- Social Security Number
- Date of Birth
- Facility Chart Number
- The Date defaults to today's date.
- Select whether the Priority for this assignment is High, or Standard.
- Click Submit.
Switch beds
Swap two clients' bed assignments or move a client into a different empty bed.
- Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
- Select Bed Management.
Result: A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date. - Use Search to locate and select the first client to move, then select the Switch button.
Result: The Switch Beds section automatically populates the bed assignment for the selected client in the Bed 1 field. - On the grid, select either an empty bed, or another client bed.
Note: If switching with another occupied bed, the second bed selection must be for a date after the initial selection. - Modify the Date and Time for the switch, if needed.
- If at any time you need to clear your bed selections, click the Restart button. This returns you to Step 1, but keeps the Switch Beds section open.
- Click Switch.
Delete a bed assignment
- Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
- Select Bed Management.
Result: A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date. - In the grid, select a client to delete the bed assignment.
- On the right, click Delete, then click Confirm.
Search
- Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
- Select Bed Management.
Result: A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date. - To search for a specific client bed assignment, click Search.
- In the Client field, you can perform a search based on any of the following criteria:
- Name/Client ID
- Alias
- Claim Number
- Social Security Number
- Date of Birth
- Facility Chart Number
- Click Search. The results page populates with all assignments meeting the search criteria.
- You can toggle between the results page and the search by using the Search and Previous Results radio buttons.
- Double-click on a result item to locate the assignment on the grid.
Edit a bed assignment
- Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
- Select Bed Management.
Result: A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date. - Use Search to locate and select the bed assignment to edit, then select Edit.
- In the Room and Board Billing Code field, select which of the room and board billing codes to apply to this assignment.
- In the Admission Charge Billing Code field, select which admission charge billing code to apply to this assignment.
- In the Daily Charge Code field, select which of the daily charge codes to apply to this assignment.
- In the Time field, enter the time for the edits to take effect.
- Click OK.
