Manage inpatient bed assignments - PM

Manage inpatient bed assignments.


Reserve a bed
  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
  2. Select Bed Management.
    Result:
     A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date.
  3. To reserve a bed, select an unassigned slot on the grid and click the Reserve button.
  4. Search for the desired client in the Client field. You can perform a search based on any of the following criteria:
    • Name/Client ID
    • Alias
    • Claim Number
    • Social Security Number
    • Date of Birth
    • Facility Chart Number
  5. The Date defaults to today's date.        
  6. Select whether the Priority for this assignment is High, or Standard.
  7. Click Submit.
Switch beds

Swap two clients' bed assignments or move a client into a different empty bed.

  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
  2. Select Bed Management.
    Result:
     A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date.
  3. Use Search to locate and select the first client to move, then select the Switch button.
    Result: The Switch Beds section automatically populates the bed assignment for the selected client in the Bed 1 field.
  4. On the grid, select either an empty bed, or another client bed.
    Note: If switching with another occupied bed, the second bed selection must be for a date after the initial selection.
  5. Modify the Date and Time for the switch, if needed.
    • If at any time you need to clear your bed selections, click the Restart button. This returns you to Step 1, but keeps the Switch Beds section open.
  6. Click Switch.
Delete a bed assignment
  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
  2. Select Bed Management.
    Result:
     A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date.
  3. In the grid, select a client to delete the bed assignment.
  4. On the right, click Delete, then click Confirm.
Search
  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
  2. Select Bed Management.
    Result:
     A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date.
  3. To search for a specific client bed assignment, click Search.
  4. In the Client field, you can perform a search based on any of the following criteria:
    • Name/Client ID
    • Alias
    • Claim Number
    • Social Security Number
    • Date of Birth
    • Facility Chart Number
  5. Click Search. The results page populates with all assignments meeting the search criteria.
  6. You can toggle between the results page and the search by using the Search and Previous Results radio buttons.
  7. Double-click on a result item to locate the assignment on the grid.
Edit a bed assignment 
  1. Go to: Avatar PM > Client Management > IP/Residential Management > Bed Management.
  2. Select Bed Management.
    Result:
     A grid displays, showing the unit and bed assignments by date.
  3. Use Search to locate and select the bed assignment to edit, then select Edit.
  4. In the Room and Board Billing Code field, select which of the room and board billing codes to apply to this assignment.
  5. In the Admission Charge Billing Code field, select which admission charge billing code to apply to this assignment.
  6. In the Daily Charge Code field, select which of the daily charge codes to apply to this assignment.
  7. In the Time field, enter the time for the edits to take effect.
  8. Click OK.
