Order Status Codes

Order status codes identify the current status of an order.

Order status codes display within the Order Entry Console (Orders This Episode/Admission tab) in the Status dropdown filter. Additionally the order status is stored for each order within the OrderEntry.history_client_order table as "order_status_code" & "order_status_value".

Code Name Description
A Active order Order is active (the current date/time is between the start date/time and stop date/time) and the order does not require validation.
D Discontinued order The order has been discontinued (The discontinued effective date can be in the future) and does not require validation.
DV Discontinued (Validation Required) Discontinuation of an active order, but the person that DC'd requires validation for the Order Type. The DC action requires validation.
E Expired order Current date/time is past the stop date/time of the order.
RENEW-DUE Renew due Not visible within the Order Entry Console column, but used for filtering to only show orders that are due for renew.
V Requires Validation Order has been submitted by a user that requires validation for the order type, and that validation has not yet taken place.
VD Discontinued (While Validation Required) DC'd while the order had a status of Requires Validation (V). The original order no longer requires validation. This is typically an indication of a problem with the original order, so it was DC'd without validating.
VD2 DC'd (While Validation Req.) - Validation Req. DC'd while the order had a status of Requires Validation (V), AND the person that DC'd the order required validation for the Order Type. The original order still requires validation.
VD3 Disch. DC (While Validation Req.) - Validation Req. DC'd automatically via Discharge, Leave, or Pharmacy DC/rejection. At the time the DC occurred the order required validation. The original order still requires validation. Intended to allow the practitioner time to validate an order if the discharge occurred before the practitioner was able to log on to validate.
