Create a note using Input Previous Note Content

The Input Previous Note Content feature enables users to retrieve previous section documentation from the most recently completed note for a patient. Currently, this functionality fetches the last completed note, regardless of whether it was authored by the presently logged-in provider or another one. While the Input Previous Note Content operates on a section-by-section basis, users can also opt to retrieve an entire previous note if this option is enabled by the organization.

Prerequisite:

  • The patient must have previously completed notes in myAvatar Medical Note.
  • The organization's Medical Note configuration has enabled the Input Previous Note Content option.
  1. In the section you would like to document, select the Input Previous (section name here) button. For example, to document from a previous note for Chief Complaint, the button reads Input Previous CC.
  2. After selecting the Input Previous button, the fields automatically fill with the information from the last completed note.
    • The icon to the right of the section label indicates that the section contains content that remains unchanged from the previous note. Hover over this icon to see the message.
    • A yellow banner at the top of the Documents tab indicates that there is at least one section containing unchanged content. Hover over the exclamation point icon to see the section(s) with unchanged content.
    • Altering or modifying the text of a section will dismiss the icons and banner. If those sections are reverted to the original content before saving, the icons and banner reappear.
  3. To apply content from other notes, use the Other Note Content button to access a list of prior notes.
    • Within the list, the Author, Episode, Program and Note Type are visible. Keep in mind that the system configuration dictates how far back you can access previous note content.
  4. Once documentation is complete, select the Finalize tab.
