Attach Individual Notes to Existing Services/Appointments

Attach an independent progress note to a service or appointment, after that service or appointment has been filed. This is useful in the event that a note is written prior to the entry of the related appointment or service, and needs to be attached at a later time.

Prerequisites: Schedule an appointment or service that is related to the existing independent progress note.


  1. Go to: Avatar CWS > Progress Notes
  2. In the Client ID field, enter the client ID.
  3. Click Process Search to select.
  4. Click Ok.
  5. If the client has multiple episodes, select the client's episode, click Ok.
  6. In the Start Date and End Date fields, enter the beginning and end dates to display progress notes.
  7. In the Note Type field, select the progress note types.
  8. Click Select Note To Attach.
  9. Choose the progress note.
  10. Click Ok.
  11. If appropriate, click Print Progress Notes.
  12. In the Link Note field select Appointments or Services.
  13. In the Start Date and End Date (Appointment/Service) fields, enter the beginning and end dates to display appointments or services (Appointment/Services field).
  14. In the Appointment/Services field select the appointment or service.
  15. Click Submit.
